More fire than ice?

By analysing the average screen colour every 10 seconds, Vox has mapped out colour use in 67 episodes as the 'Game of Thrones' saga edges towards it's conclusion.

It may be surprising to hear that as a whole the 'warm' scenes outnumber the 'cool' scenes by 61% to 39%. It's interesting to note however, that as the action moves from sunny southern climes to the frozen North the colours cool considerably to match this. As a result, season 7 is predominantly cool in colour.

Warmth and saturation has also steadily decreased as the series has developed, visually making good the promise that winter is well and truly coming.

To fully immerse yourself in these colour trends, explore Vox's interactive and annotated colour spectrum for each episode.
