Stockholm based designer Victor Muller initially created Plane Shame as a personal project in response to his own guilt over frequent flying. By simply typing in origin and destination, the site gives you an idea of the amount of arctic ice melt the trip would equate to in terms of CO2 emissions.
In addition it shows you a visual of how other lifestyle changes such as going vegetarian or using LED light bulbs compares in terms of off-setting those emissions.
Muller maintains that the intention of the site is not to promote flight guilt, but rather to give consumers a better undersanding of how their lifestyle may contribute to climate change.
